Client: European telecommunications provider
Challenge: Declining engagement and rising drop-offs in traditional surveys.
Solution: Implemented Crowdtech Conversational Surveys across key feedback touchpoints.
A Conversational Survey is essentially a traditional questionnaire in a more modern format. The main difference lies in how it’s presented. The questions appear as part of a chat conversation, creating a more natural experience for the respondent.
Conversational Surveys are especially appreciated by younger people between the ages of 18 and 34. That’s due to a few key advantages:
A chat interface often feels more natural than a standard question-and-answer structure.
Its intuitive design means respondents are less likely to get stuck while completing the survey.
Respondents have more freedom in how they answer. They can choose from options, but also respond in their own everyday language.
Research agency MWM2 conducted an A/B test comparing the Conversational Survey with a traditional questionnaire. The main findings were as follows:
The content of the responses was virtually identical. It didn’t matter whether someone took part via a standard questionnaire or a Conversational Survey.
Fifty-five percent of respondents found the Conversational Survey easier to complete than a traditional questionnaire. Thirty-five percent noticed no difference, and ten percent found it more difficult. Age played a role here. Seventy-two percent of younger respondents found it easier, compared to forty-two percent of respondents aged 55 and older.
Respondents took slightly longer to complete a Conversational Survey, averaging three minutes and thirty-six seconds, compared to two minutes and thirty-nine seconds for a traditional questionnaire.

Yes, in part. The Conversational Survey uses machine learning. This algorithm recognises which answer corresponds to what a respondent types. If the system is unsure, it will ask for confirmation. The more the system is used, the smarter it becomes.
Yes, you can. For example, you can customise the logo at the top and the chatbot icon. Think of using a company logo as a banner and either an avatar or real photo as the chatbot icon.
At the moment, the Conversational Survey is only available in Dutch.
